When you view a house think of important questions to ask, here are a few suggestions.

  • Does the property have central heating?

  • What are the neighbours like?

  • What are the local schools like?

  • How much is the council tax for the area?

  • Is the property lease or freehold?

  • Is there allocated parking?

  • If there isn't, is it easy to park?

  • Does it have a private or shared garden?

  • What aspect is the garden?

  • If the property is leasehold, how much is the ground rent?

  • Are transport links good?

  • Is the area noisy?

  • Where are the nearest shops?

  • Is the property tied up in a chain?

  • How quickly would the owners like to move?

  • Has any building work been done on the property since the owners moved in?

  • Put your own house up for sale as soon as possible. If you do find a buyer for your house, make sure you state in the contract with your buyer that you will not move out before you have a new house. This also places you in the enviable position of knowing how much you have to spend on a new house.
